About The Network
The Foothills Children’s Wellness Network
We are a network comprised of partners from across all sectors and groups in the Foothills region, who share a common vision about the importance of working together to support the development of our children and youth.
We know that the first five years of life are critical for the healthy development of children. A happy, healthy home and exposure to positive experiences can shape the way the brain and body develops and has lifelong impacts on health. Early childhood is a time when children need to know they are loved, valued and respected. This in turn, fosters their capacity to love, value and respect others.
Similar to the early years, adolescence is another period of significant brain development. Just like younger children, our youth need loving supportive environments with clear and consistent boundaries. Young people need adults to believe and encourage them, to listen to what they have to say and to feel accepted by our communities.
By working together, we can promote the importance of early childhood development and maximize our resources and supports. And through our collective efforts we work to ensure that youth will live, learn, thrive and maximize their personal potential and wellbeing. Together we want to enable all children to develop from happy, healthy children and become resilient, connected youth.
By working together we:
- Strengthen the abilities of parents, caregivers, and the community to support our children and youth
- Catch concerns early
- Guide parents and caregivers to know where to go and what to do when they have concerns
- Support and learn from one another
Investment in Children is an Investment in Alberta
By working together to nurture healthy development of all children in our communities, we ensure the next generation has the potential to maintain and build a strong Alberta.
